Social Inclusion

The Social Inclusion Cause has, mainly, the objective of making the mobility experience more inclusive, from different points of view, with the aim of inspiring a change in society and having a positive influence both on young people and on the daily realities themselves. In fact, the activities linked to the Social Inclusion Cause, above all, aim to make participation in the various mobility programs as accessible as possible also to "disadvantaged" students, for personal and/or economic reasons.

Furthermore, the second mission is to offer international students a 360° exchange experience, giving them the opportunity to carry out voluntary activities that bring them closer to the local community of the city where they are, having therefore the possibility of understanding their needs and requirements, guided by the support of the ESNers. In this regard, the awareness-raising activity that is carried out within this cause is very important to draw attention to various types of issues (health, minorities, discrimination …) and to disseminate information, in order to have a greater impact.

Education & Youth

The cause has the intention of supporting the organization and implementation of all those activities related to the promotion of student and non-student mobility. The main purpose of the cause is therefore to guide members within the world of mobility, providing them with continuous help and support in the approach to the various parallel realities of ESN that deal with student mobility.

This is done not only within the university environment but also in the city, regional and national contexts similar to ESN's mission such as kindergartens, elementary schools and first and second-grade secondary schools. The cause, therefore, has the dual purpose of bringing citizens closer to the concept of mobility, continuous exchange and Europe, but at the same time, it brings exchange students in our cities to understand new aspects of Italian culture, to get in touch with a world apparently distant that thanks to Education and Youth become ever closer.

One of the fundamental methods used to achieve the purpose of this cause is certainly the contest Your Erasmus with ESN, which boasts a large national diffusion towards more than fifty universities present in the Italian territory. The contest is supported by various national and European institutions which, thanks to their help, allow each year to allocate different scholarships for students who are approaching their mobility period.

Culture & Travel

The Causa Culture, and consequently the Team Culture, deals with the promotion of activities related to the enhancement of intercultural exchange and the Italian artistic and natural heritage.

Activities in this sense are considered:

Visits to museums and guided tours to discover the monuments of the city;

The organization and/or participation in drama shows, food and wine lessons and courses on terracotta processing, or on a popular dance. Even a Euro/International Dinner, which includes a cultural contribution such as the explanation of the preparation or the history of a dish is a cultural event;

Further activities useful for discovering the territory, such as hikes in Nature, mountains and beaches and participation in traditional festivals.

Health & Well-being

The cause Health & Well-Being arises from the combination of different factors such as physical, mental, emotional and social health. Its main purpose is to make exchange students and the association's volunteers understand that adopting a healthy and balanced lifestyle is not only good for our body but also and above all for our minds.

Activities in this sense are considered:

  • events that promote physical exercise in the open air and in contact with nature, such as excursions, skiing, snowboarding, racing, bike rides, diving, kayak days, hiking, beach volleyball, horseback riding, etc…;
  • events that promote physical exercise in the company, such as bowling evenings, outings on the skating rinks, Zumba lessons, etc ...;
  • events that promote a healthy and balanced diet, such as cooking lessons;
  • events that promote mental well-being and relaxation, such as yoga and pilates classes, meditation sessions, spa days, and healthy-style picnics;
  • online events that allow you to train your memory, promote cognitive skills and trigger logical reasoning, such as the online chess tournament, online escape rooms, etc ...;
  • sporting events, such as football, volleyball, basketball, tennis matches and/or tournaments, etc…;
  • collaborations with entities/institutions/associations of one's own city and/or with others for the organization of sporting events;
  • sports and/or dance challenges - even between several Sections - via online platforms and social networks;
  • video lessons and/or live broadcasts regarding fitness workouts or physical exercises in general.

Environmental

Sustainability

The cause of Environmental Sustainability is based on environmental awareness and protection at all levels. It is based on three main pillars:

  • promote information and raise awareness on environmental problems and possible sustainable alternatives;
  • promote active citizenship and green volunteering among ESNers, Erasmus, other organizations and citizens outside the association (e.g. students, population) by involving these parties with information campaigns and personally with local physical and online events;
  • make the Network more sustainable (e.g. create plastic-free national events, and promote a discussion on these issues at an international level).

Skills & Employability

The cause Skills & Employability aims to enhance and promote the development of soft skills that are acquired by volunteers during their experience in ESN and to create a bridge between ESN and the world of work, highlighting the marketability of what you have learned through your volunteering career in the near working future. Particular attention is paid to non-formal education through a special training program that is present at an international level, the Eduk8, which, among other objectives, allows to enrich the curriculum vitae of individuals. In this wake, also at the Italian level, the foundations are being laid for the formation of an Italian Pool of Trainers, so as to count on a group of expert and motivated trainers who can play the role of facilitator during the numerous events organized in the Network.
